Final Volunteer Push to Open Beck Lake Bike Park

5/17/2017

Here is the status of the bike park. Shea and Flow Ride Concepts have packed up and moved on. Shea will be back, probably the end of next week, to punch out a few last items. Ward, Shea and I have consulted and believe we will be ready for a “soft opening” of the bike park the weekend of May 27. A formal grand-opening extravaganza can take place sometime in June.
We have quite a list of things to do before a Memorial Day weekend opening. So, this weekend, Saturday, May 20 we are doing a (hopefully) large scale volunteer effort across the bike park. If we can’t bang a bunch of this out this weekend, it may delay the opening. We will start at 10am (if you want to start earlier, please contact me for instructions) and work until we are done. Tentative rendezvous point is the top parking lot at the large orange construction fence before you reach the pit toilets.
Because of the large amount of work to do, I am looking for people to commit to this project ahead of time so I have an idea of how many “managers” we will need and start assigning tasks. Want a chance to ride the park early (say Saturday evening after work is done), then volunteering is a sure way to do it.
Please reply or contact John Gallagher if you can commit to helping on Saturday. If you would like to direct a small group of volunteers doing anything from packing berms to mixing concrete to picking up dead sage brush, please let me know ahead of time.
If it is too wet on Saturday, we will try again on Sunday.
As always, thanks for your help in getting this awesome bike park open.
